Introductions

I was just introduced to a really fun blog to read. http://cleochatra.blogspot.com/. She doesn't follow HCG, but she does follow Atkins, which is basically P3 of HCG. It's not really the process she follows, but what she has to say about dieting in general that's so great. For instance:

Don't get me wrong. I'm not anti-Weight Watchers. I'm just not for it.

In fact, in 2004, I undertook a two month trek into the vast valley of the points system, flex eating, and online membership. I purchased the little calculator, never spent my flex points, and, over the course of 60 long, hungry days, managed to lose 25 pounds.

I was too tired to jump up and down (thankfully, the floor was concrete) to celebrate the weight loss. I just wanted a piece of bacon. Or cheese. Or something with less more in it than the packaging of their convenience foods.
That's just so much fun!

She also posted a link to this article: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/debate/article-1247216/The-Big-Fat-Lies-Britains-obesity-epidemic.html# Seriously interesting stuff written by a lawyer, Hannah Sutter. In fact, take a look at this little bit of her article:

The Government's Food Standards Agency (FSA), among others, is pumping out a template of a balanced diet that is based on flawed science that I believe is responsible for thousands of people developing health problems.

The co-defendant in the dock with the Government is starch.

While we've all been brainwashed into thinking that fat is the killer we must avoid and food manufacturers bring out more and more profitable 'low-fat' versions of foods, starch - in the shape of pasta, bread, cereals, potatoes and rice - has been quietly adding on the pounds, while we are being told that it's good for us.

The problem, I believe, is threefold.

First, we are being given dietary advice that is completely out of keeping with our current lifestyles.

The second problem is that the Government vendetta against fats, because of their apparent link to heart disease, is based on highly debatable studies.

And third, although exercise is undoubtedly good for us all, there is growing evidence that shows sweating away in the gym won't actually make you any slimmer.

And to add insult to injury, it's hard to get any research money to counter these arguments, because most research is funded by the very food conglomerates that stand to benefit most from these lies.

So, the first big fat lie we are fed is that we should eat less.

The list of fats for day 2

I don't think I can face another can of macadamia nuts ever again. Today, I'm decidedly slowing down on the fat intake - less is making me more sick to my stomach. I'm looking forward to tomorrow when I get to eat closer to the quantity I'd normally eat. It wasn't unusual for me to eat a cucumber for lunch and that was all.

On to my list for today:

  • 8g in doughnuts
  • 60g in cheese
  • 1g in crackers
  • 96g in whole unpasteurized milk
  • 45g in Lindt Truffle bar (HOLY COW!!)
  • I have no idea what's in a bowl of Fettuccine Alfredo, buttered crusty bread, and buttered broccoli but I figure it's got to have at least 100g.
  • Again, no idea how many, but I got in a bowl of ice cream somehow, too.

I genuinely hope that this go round will be the only one I have to do, cuz I *don't* want to have to do this again. Seriously, YUCK! I'm doing (stomach upset-wise) better than yesterday, where I got 9oz of macadamia nuts down, but still wouldn't want a repeat. I've just kept myself just on the brink of the queasy state rather than moving it on to a genuine feeling of needing to leave an offering to the porcelain god.

Blech.

Ugh.

Loading Day 2

It was difficult to sleep last night. I suspect it's because of all the added vitamins in the evening. Tonight, I'll try taking them a little closer to 4 or 5, I think, because taking them at 7:30 doesn't wear off until nearly 1 in the morning.

When I awoke, I felt dread as I performed the long walk down the steps to the kitchen to start Loading Day 2. The thought of fatty foods makes me a little green, but the more I do now, the more comes off later. I'm actually doing what everyone says you should never do - forcing myself to eat! Thank goodness I have digestive enzymes! I never would've made it through yesterday if I hadn't.

Today, I'm going to take the digestive enzymes earilier in the day, take my PM vitamins earlier in the day, and add some roughage. Woman can not live on fat alone. Trust me.

So far, I'm off to a slow start on the fat intake - just two doughnuts. I'll have to step it up, but there's gotta be a better way than macadamia nuts!

The list of fats today

Here's my list of fat intake for the day:
  • 8g in 2 doughnuts (persians with frosting) <--shouldn't those have more??
  • 12g in whole milk chai tea
  • 28g in chocolate bar
  • 189g in macadamia nuts
  • 22g in cheese
  • 30g in chips
  • No idea in grams, but a bowl of parmasean cheese popcorn with real butter
  • Essential oils all over me! I can't hardly stand the smell of me!

So, what is that? Around 300g of fat today? Blech. Seriously.

I actually had to double check to make sure I didn't have some sort of a limit on what I was supposed to intake. Tami tells me that I'm doing just what I'm supposed to do, though...

Ugh... I don't feel so well. For really.

I need roughage.

And I have to do it again tomorrow?? :(

Blech!

You can't imagine what crap you feel like on the first loading day. I thought, sorta, that it would be fun to just release and eat everything I loved to eat. I gotta say... YUCK!

So far, I've had 2 doughnuts, a chai tea made with whole milk, and about four ounces of macadamia nuts. Later, I've planned a scallop fettuccini alfrado meal. My nutritionalist said that I should eat fats until they sorta made me sick - just that "little bit" has done it. It's nearly lunch time and I have NO desire for food. Seriously. Fatty foods are icky after just a short time. How am I going to make it through the rest of the day today and all day tomorrow??

I still have the rest of the can of macadamia nuts to go (22g of fat per 1 ounce!), several cheeses, a cake with cream cheese frosting that Mom's making, and chips! Just the thought of all that makes me queasy.

Tami, my nutritionalist, says that I have to really, really, really load up so the weight melts later over the next fourty days. I feel like I'm having to endure the 40 days and 40 nights thing and it's only the first day!

Wish me luck - I think I'm going to need it just to keep the food down.
